Mine is a place between the lake and the sound Where ghosts of a beautiful past can be found A place haunted by memories of slow steamy nights painted with music that was so outta sight with people like Charles and Hendrix and Jones who brought the sweet sounds that stuck right to your bones but our streets were first built on senseless segregation by members of the klan of the arian nation and although the hatred and brutality took their tolls we were saved by the Panthers and the Freedom Patrols thanks to those who fought hard in our community so we could come out stronger with a new identity by turning towards each other we helped open a door we are not just a place for the outcasts and poor Now those old time buildings and people are gone but the feeling and colors of the music live on Garfield young bloods with dues yet to be paid, Eaves droppin’ on legends in Starbucks at Promenade Mine is this place this place is mine It is haunted by ghosts and it suits me just fine
