How does it work?
In honor of National Poetry Month, The Seattle Times asked readers to submit original works of 150 words or fewer for a poetry contest. The top entries were chosen by popular vote on this Web site. See a list of the finalists here.
From those 15 finalists, our book editor and features editor will collaborate to select an Editors' Choice winning poem. We'll publish that poem and the online voters' winner and as many runners-up as we can fit in the Sunday, May 8 edition of The Seattle Times and on seattletimes.com.
Join the finalists as they recite their winning poems in a public reading at 7 p.m. Monday, May 9, at Richard Hugo House, 1634 11th Ave., Seattle; free; 206-322-7030 or www.hugohouse.org.
